Title I, Part A

Definition

Title I, Part A is a federal program that serves the unique needs of children — kindergarten to grade 12 — who struggle to learn. Title I programs and services provide customized instruction and curricula that helps these students meet academic standards and take an active, engaged interest in what they learn and can do. As the oldest and largest federal education program, Title I programs build equity of opportunity for children whose struggles often keep them on the academic sidelines.

Focus

The Zillah School District has identified Hilton Elementary School and Zillah Intermediate School as School-Wide Title I schools.  Both buildings utilize funds to fully support K-4 literacy as well as support struggling learners with an emphasis on those of poverty.

Student Eligibility

Both Hilton Elementary and Zillah Intermediate School are identified as School-Wide Title I schools, which allows for all students attending these schools to be eligible to receive services.

Planning

Establishing Needs

Each building will conduct a Data Carousel prior to the school year in order to identify areas of need.  Data used will include SBA, ELPA21, MSP, CEE Perceptual Data, STAR 360, and classroom-based assessments.

School-Wide Plans

Title I School-Wide Plans are integrated into each schools’ improvement plan.  Zillah School District’s Title I Plan will serve as the building block for school’s plan.  Each school will identify specific areas of need and address those needs with strategic efforts.

Program Review

Monthly, intervention teams will review progress monitoring data to determine course of action.  The team will utilized intervention program data and/or classroom-based assessment data to determine program needs and student placement.

Annually, each building will conduct a review of the school’s improvement plan to evaluate the Title I School-Wide impact.  Data used will include SBA, ELPA21, WCAS, CEE Perceptual Data, STAR 360, and classroom-based assessments.
