Snow Routes

When our District experiences inclement weather, such as snow and ice, there are some areas in the district where we are not comfortable sending our buses.  As a result, we have established "snow routes".  These routes will have alternative stops to pick up and drop off students.

If your route number is not listed below, then that bus will run the normal route.

If the district has a two-hour delay start time, snow routes are automatically in effect, and we will use the alternative stops.

Students need to be at stops 10 minutes early! Please allow extra time (10-15 minutes) as buses may be running a bit late due to unforeseen circumstances.

 Bus 5 / Blue Route

  • No 137 Oak Barrel Lane – Go to alternative bus stop: Yakima Valley Highway & Oak Barrel Lane for pick up/drop off.
  • No 110 Hamilton Dr - Go to alternative bus stop:  Alteejen Rd & W. Centennial Dr for pick up/drop off.

Bus 8 / Purple Route

  • No Schooley Road & Smith Road – Go to alternative bus stop: Yakima Valley Highway & Schooley Road for pick up/drop off.

Bus 1 / Red Route

  • No 1591 Lucy Lane - Go to alternative bus stop: 1250 Lucy Lane for pick up/drop off.
  • No 5203 Highland Drive – Go to alternative bus stop: Highland Drive & Lucy Lane for pick up/drop off.

If snow routes are in effect in the morning, but routes are safe and passable in the afternoon, buses will return to normal routes.  However, if a safety concern remains, snow routes will remain in effect. If we know with certainty that buses will remain on snow routes throughout the day, we will include that information in our morning notices.

In the event that all schools are affected by a two-hour delay, families will be notified via phone call and/or text.  You may find the announcements on the Zillah School District Facebook page and Twitter feed. Announcements will also be sent to local television and radio stations.
