5th Grade DARE Graduation Ceremony
The DARE program at Zillah Intermediate School celebrated its graduation ceremony on Monday, with fifth graders receiving certificates for their participation. The program, which stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education, teaches students about the dangers of drugs, alcohol, tobacco, and violence. The students also learn skills to resist peer pressure and make healthy choices. The graduation ceremony featured speeches from Sheriff Udell, DARE officer Brown, and some of the students. The DARE program is a collaboration between the Zillah Police Department and the Zillah School District. This is the first year running the program in quite some time for the ZSD. We hope to build upon this success and offer DARE at other grade levels as well.
Special recognition goes out to the essay award winners Lulu McCullough, Lennox Spicer, Lilianna Guzman, and Joaquin Riquelme.
