Dear Zillah School District Families,
Zillah School District is now accepting nominations for our Highly Capable Program. This program is designed for students who demonstrate, or show the potential to demonstrate, significantly advanced academic performance and who may benefit from accelerated learning and enhanced instruction. Students may exhibit strengths in general intellectual ability, specific academic areas, creativity, problem-solving, and a strong capacity for learning.
The Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) identifies the Highly Capable Program as a component of Washington's basic education program. School districts are required to provide learning opportunities that accelerate learning and offer enhanced instruction for students who qualify. These services may include differentiated instruction, curriculum compacting, flexible grouping, advanced coursework, and other enrichment opportunities designed to meet individual student needs.
Anyone may nominate a student, including parents, guardians, teachers, staff members, community members, or the students themselves. All nominations received during the open enrollment period will be reviewed through the district's identification process.
