Text Box: Who’d I Like To Meet. TETO

Terry Scaife is the best president this school has ever had…this year. Terry has been apart of the Zillah   School District since kindergarten, yet before his school life started doctors  diagnosed him with a  rare disease commonly referred to as “Dancidis” which causes the victim to experience excessive body movement and even cases of epilepsies in the presence of Rap and/or Hip-Hop music. Terry is planning on being apart of the varsity wrestling team this winter and on the off season enjoys practicing with the cross country team. On September 24th he also plans in standing in a line for up to 10 hours in the cold until midnight, what would drive a man to this dedication…? Well it is a well known fact that Terry has a thing for this one twitchy shooter called Halo 3, and he is more than willing to duke it out with an assortment of pre-teen X-Box fan boys.

Walking into the main hallway this year, some of you may notice a brighter hallway. This is because while you guys were out doing summer activities, the ASB officers were busy painting the school white. With a total of 448 work hours, this was not an easy task to tackle. Before the redecoration of the hallway it was an ugly bluish gray color that darkened the hallway. We took over the hallway by paint storm busting out 25 gallons of white paint onto the unsuspecting hallway. The wall was not the only thing that got a fresh look, the main doors and the east and west doors got a new orange color along with all the door jams going for the black look. With all the new improvements to the hallway we hope that this will better improve the learning environment.

How many of you lug all your books around in your backpack all year because you don't have a locker? Could you imagine not having a place to keep 40 bins worth of costumes, almost 2 tons of wood, as well as tools? Z Center Stage experienced this heavy fate, just last year.
Even though our school has plenty of space for the 400 plus students and teachers, last spring the drama department needed to find space to store everything kept throughout the years. They ended up with four separate storages, both on campus and off, including the faculty room, the concession stand (thankfully it was empty due to the new gym), and also a rented storage shed. But, having little storage space was nothing compared to moving back in. Finally getting temporary occupancy the Monday before they opened the spring production of Beauty and the Beast, the group started moving the bare essentials in, including a two story set, and all the technical stuff. But what few know is how much it took to move BACK into their new environment after the play was done, and had time to focus on getting all the minor details into place.
Over the summer a small handful of drama fanatics, including Karoline Burnell, Kaycee Carpenter, Brittany Collins, Phil Hiemstra, Abby Johnson, Ryan Masengale, Sean Masengale, Darci Milton, Nyna Nelson, Glen Porter, Jordie Ricigliano, and Kyle Tynan helped finish getting everything back from the many different storage places and put into a place specifically designated for it. Doing this took five or six separate, full day sessions.
Now that they are completely snug into their new home, they have this year to look forward to. Drama will be performing the first non musical production on the new stage. The fall play for the 2007-2008 school year is the classic comedy Matchmaker. Directors Lynn Brant and Jeff Charbonneau chose this play for a number of reasons. One of the main reasons was they wanted something "non fairytale related", having just completed Beauty and the Beast in the spring.
After reading 15 or so scripts they settled on The Matchmaker, a fun but classic comedy with a good variety of characters for the many different thespians Z Center Stage attracts each year. The Matchmaker, is a story about Dolly Gallagher Levi, a widow who brokers marriages and other transactions in Yonkers, New York at the turn of the 20th Century. She sets her sights on local merchant Horace Vandergelder, who has hired her to find him a wife. After a series of slapstick situations involving mistaken identities, secret rendezvous behind carefully-placed screens, separated lovers, and a trip to night court, everyone finds themselves paired with a perfect match.

“The Football team is starting it's quest to becoming a powerhouse once again. Right now we are an inexperienced team overall and we are learning a few lessons early in the season which will help us as we approach our league schedule. We have about 56 guys on the team. The attitude has been great and everyone is working hard. With a new coaching staff and new system to learn, we are a little behind where we would like to be right now at the start of this year, but we are improving with every practice and game, and will definitely be a force by the middle of the season. I personally am really enjoying coaching this group of players because of their dedication to making this a great season. Keep an eye on the leopards because we are going to start winning games very soon. “   -Coach Winters
