HSPE Requirement for Graduation:

Note: Please take this requirement seriously.   There may be reports in the media or rumors among people about certain requirements “going away”.  We advise you to disregard any information you may receive outside of information released from the Zillah School District.  Please contact Mr. Torres directly if you have any questions.

To earn a diploma, students must demonstrate proficiency in core subjects by passing the State HSP Reading, Writing and Math tests.  Students enrolled in the ZHS Class of 2012 will automatically have their HSP test booklets ordered for them.

About the High School Proficiency Exams.  The HSPE is shorter to take than the WASL and will be moved online over the next few years. Reading, math and science will take just one day each instead of two with the WASL. For now, writing will still take two days.

Sophomores take the HSP Reading & Writing Exams on March 16-18, 2010, Math April 13 and Science April 15, 2010.  Students take one test each day beginning at 8:00 am sharp.  Please keep the dates open for testing as make-ups are not allowed this spring.

The latest directive from OSPI states that students who miss any testing will have to make up that testing August 9-12 2010.
